Bayt in Islamic terminology is an "Oath of Allegiance" to a Leader. The tradition of Oath of Allegiance/Bayt can be traced back to the era of Prophet Muhammad. Anyone who wanted to join the Islamic community the Oath of Allegiance/Bayt was taken by prophet Muhammad. Through this formal act they entered the Islamic community and showed their willingness to follow and obey prophet Muhammad.
Meaning of Bayt
The meaning of taking Bayt is to pledge spiritual allegiance and surrender yourself to the supervision of a spiritual teacher to lead you to Allah by guiding you through the path of the Quran and Sunnah.
Process of Bayt
Mawlana Shaykh recites Verse 10 from Surah 48 Al Fath along with a few supplications to complete the Oath of Allegiance/Bayt and the Seeker listens to it quietly and acknowledges in their heart that they are taking the Oath of Allegiance/Bayt to Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Adil Ar Rabbani. At the end of the Oath of Allegiance/Bayt the Seeker Loudly says "Allahu, Allahu, Allahu Haqq" which means "Allah is, Allah is, Allah is The Absolute Truth".
Meaning of Surah 48 Verse 10
"Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you, [O Muhammad] - they are actually pledging allegiance to Allah. The hand of Allah is over their hands. So he who breaks his word only breaks it to the detriment of himself. And he who fulfills that which he has promised Allah - He will give him a great reward".
